Tre Amici @ The Bunker
Hours: Monday through Saturday 8am-8pm; Sunday 10am-4pm
Parking: There's some street parking but also a lot in the back of the building if you're afraid of parallel parking like me.
Atmosphere: Nestled right by the infamous 7th Ave in Ybor City, The Bunker is a great getaway from the all the hustle and bustle. You're pretty much guaranteed to run into some of Ybor's feathery friends while you're there but don't worry, they're harmless! (Check out the Ybor Chicken Society to learn more about them!)
Inside is very welcoming with adorable string lights and art by local artists hanging on the wall. Plenty of varied seating with sofa chairs, regular tables, and spots at the coffee bar. It's the kind of place that invites you to come and stay for awhile.
Menu: Sometimes it's hard to find a coffee shop that has great coffee AND good food (aside from the usual muffins), which is precisely why I'm such a fan of The Bunker. They go beyond breakfast food and also serve lunch options (their Cuban sandwich was even nominated for "Best of the Bay") but they keep their menu short and to the point. After all, sometimes you just need some nibbles!
They serve Buddy Brew coffee, so you know it's good, and have their own take on some coffee shop classics (my personal fave is the Cafe Ybor). There's also tea options for those looking for something less caffeinated and all their teas are organic, which is a nice plus.
Events: Yet another aspect of what makes this place so great. It's almost hard to keep up with everything they have going on but thankfully they have an online calendar to help you keep track.
- Tuesdays - One of the most notable events they host is Tampa's Original Music Showcase every Tuesday night from 7pm-10pm. Best part - NO COVER!
- Thursdays - The Red Light Cafe hosted by Kid Loki on Thursday nights 7:30pm-9:30pm that also hosts original artists with the added bonus of no cover and 30% off drinks and food during the event!
Not to mention First Friday open mic, another open mic for veterans, a book club, poetry slams, and "noise nights!"
Above all, The Bunker is a space for community (and coffee!) and a great third place for anyone looking to just be so be sure to give them a follow!
