Red Mesa Cantina (Brunch)
Price Range: $$-$$$
Hours: Sunday through Wednesday 11am-10pm; Thursday through Saturday 11am-3am
Recommended: The breakfast burritos are a particular favorite of mine. If you're in a "treat yo self" kind of mood I also highly recommend a side of the potato hash (around $3 to $4). For an appetizer the mofongo is a solid choice. It's really hard to go wrong here though, so go with whatever suits your fancy. Here's the full menu if you want a gander. (UPDATE: I got the Shrimp and Grits and they top everything else I've had for brunch. The burritos are still amazing as well as the Eggs Benedicto, but the sauce that comes on the Shrimp and Grits sets them apart from anything else. Get the Shrimp and Grits.)
I always get a mimosa when I come here (I mean, when it's for brunch, how can you not?). They have a couple of flavors, all pretty good, but I'm partial to orange. Their Bloody Mary's are also only $4.50 and come with a nice garnish.
Atmosphere: This is one of the main reasons I love going to Red Mesa Cantina, especially on a beautiful day for brunch. The outside courtyard area is very nice and welcoming. Definitely has that rustic feel that goes with the rest of the restaurant with a fountain and waterfall area in the middle. There's a separate nightclub area upstairs that I've haven't been to yet (it's on my list!) but I've heard good things and they hold events there throughout the year like yoga classes and holiday parties.
Note: No substitutions - it throws the chefs off their groove (which is understandable). Sometimes I'm in the mood for a different sauce than what comes with my meal so I just ask for it extra on the side and they've always been accommodating. I've also never experienced a wait before late afternoon, but for dinner time or a large party I'd call ahead.
